Biodiversity data sharing through GBIF by the Private Sector

The Portuguese Node of GBIF, together with EDP - Energias de Portugal, and CIBIO/InBIO, are organizing the webinar Biodiversity data sharing through GBIF by the Private Sector.

This webinar is directed to companies and private institutions that promote or work with biodiversity, for example, in Environmental Impacts Studies or Monitoring Programs. The open data sharing could be important to increasing biodiversity scientific knowledge and to contribute to better management of natural resources. For companies, it could also mean an effort towards actions of Corporate Social responsibility, that should be integrated to improve strategies regarding sustainability indicators.

The event, which is an activity from the OpenPSD project, will have the participation of companies such as EDP and Aqualogus, that already have published their biodiversity data through GBIF, and therefore will present their experience about this activity integration in their business strategies. The webinar will also bring the perspectives from CIBIO and the Portuguese Environmental Agency (APA), regarding the contribution that biodiversity open data from private organisations can give to scientific advances and to greater transparency to society.

The webinar will have a second part with a discussion component, where all participants can ask questions and make comments.

The attendance is free, however previous registration is required. The webinar will take place through the Zoom platform.
